Seattle’s Mayoral Election Season is in full swing! Just moved here? First foray into elections? Just starting to wonder how Seattle’s system works? Love the excitement of elections? Political junkie who lives for change? If *any* of these descriptions fit how you feel, the easiest, best and most exciting way to find more of what you need is to see the two candidates in action: debating each other on issues of serious substance right here in Belltown!

36th District Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles and Belltown Community Council President Elizabeth Campbell will be on hand to keep the evening focused and in depth. With two heavy hitting candidates who can handle the tough issues Seattle faces, we are sure to have a fascinating evening to spark our political season!

Waterfront Seattle EIS Scoping Meeting

Waterfront Seattle hopes to see you at their upcoming public scoping meeting on September 9!

About the meeting

At the scoping meeting you will be able to:

  • Learn about the environmental process and scoping
  • Share your comments on what should be discussed in the EIS

The meeting will be held:
September 9, 2013
4:30 – 6:30 pm
Seattle City Hall, Bertha Knight Landes Room
600 Fourth Avenue

The meeting will be an open house format, and is free and open to all.

Mayoral Forum Tonight

Tonight at 6 pm the Belltown Business Association is hosting a mayoral candidate forum at the Belltown Community Center.  This will be free and open to the public, so bring a friend.  Candidates will each have some time to speak, and will be answering questions from the public.  Come out and get to know your candidates right in your own back yard.

Public Meeting on Proposed Skateable Art Installation at Myrtle Edwards

Seattle Parks and Recreation, the Office of Arts and Culture, and Red Bull invite you and your family to the first of two public meetings to discuss a proposed skateable art installation at Myrtle Edwards Park.

At the first meeting Seattle Parks will present the history of this project and gather input from the public on the potential project.

4Culture is currently administrating the call for artists. the second meeting will be scheduled after the artist selection in June. At this meeting the artist will present the design for the skateable art piece.

Myrtle Edwards Park is located at 3130 Alaskan Way on the shoreline north of Olympic Sculpture Park. The Citywide Skatepark Plan designated this site as a recommended site for a skatedot in the central west region. Red Bull would like to invest in the community and commission an artist to design and fabricate the unique skateable art. The artist will coordinate the design with Seattle Parks and Recreation.
